Leicester Blue Sox junior and adult teams player Rory Chandler has received a late call-up to the Great Britain under-18 national team, who will be travelling to Ostrava, Czech Republic for the CEB U18 European Championship this summer.
Chandler narrowly missed out on the provisional cut for the travel team when it was announced last month, however, the GB coaching staff have now added the promising youngster to their ranks and he will be flying out with the rest of the squad in early July to prepare for the upcoming tournament.
A tough schedule awaits Team GB who progressed to the Championship following a successful qualifying campaign last summer.
Great Britain open their account against Germany on Monday 13 July, followed by further pool games against France, Spain and Italy.
On the weekend of 18 and 19 July, the competition moves to an inter-pool format with knockout games potentially against Croatia, Czech Republic, Holland, Russia, and Sweden.
The full schedule of games can be found on the official CEB website:
Leicester Blue Sox wish Rory and the rest of Team GB the
very best of luck at this summer’s European Championship!
