September is the traditional end of the British baseball and softball season, and the first weekend of the month is going to be a busy one for the various junior sections at our club.
Great Britain Fastpitch League closing day - Saturday 5 September (Farnham Park)
Farnham Park, the UK's national baseball and softball near Slough is going to be very busy this weekend. Headlining the venue will be the BBF National Baseball Championships featuring the conclusion of the NBL and Triple-A division title matches.
Over on the softball fields, three of our Blue Sox Junior girls will be in action on the final day of the Great Britain Fastpitch League. With two of our young proteges already knocking on the door of the GB National Teams programme, we have an exciting off-season ahead us with a growing Blue Sox presence at Academy and GB practice during the winter.
Blue Sox Juniors u14 extra practice - Saturday 5 September (Western Park)
Although eliminated earlier in the season in the Youth National Baseball Championships qualifier, our u14 programme goes from strength to strength with even more promising talent being added to the ranks during the school summer holidays.
The team has it's sights set on the Herts Futures Tournament being held on Saturday 26 September at Hemel Hempstead. This weekend's extra practice will be one of the last opportunities to tune-up for the road to Herts.
Little Sox Heroes & Princesses closing day - Sunday 6 September (Western Park)
Our youngest tee-ballers have gone on a fantastic journey this season. Starting in April with a huge turnout, our u9 programme has seen an astonishing transition from tee-ball to coach-pitched and more recently, player-pitched baseball.
The highlight of the season, was our trip to London Youth Baseball League where the Little Sox played their first-ever games of coach-pitched baseball with kids as young as five.
We celebrate the success of the season with our final session of 2015.....in fancy dress! The boys will be dressed as super-heroes and our girls will be dressed as princesses - expect lots of fun this Sunday, and perhaps some tears as we say our last goodbyes until next April.
It's been a fantastic year of development and progression across the various junior sections of the club, we can't wait to see how much more our kids improve next season!
