What is Little Sox?
Little Sox is a baseball and softball development programme for boys and girls aged 4-9. Our sessions are split into two age-groups Tee Ball (ages 4-6) and Coach Pitch (ages 7-9).
What happens at the sessions?
We will teach your child how to:
*Hit the ball off ‘tee’ or a ‘coaches pitch’
*Run the bases
*Catching and throwing
*Gain an understanding of the basic rules
*Play minimally competitive development games
At the end
of each session, the kids huddle together for a big ‘Blue Sox high five’ and
coaches hand out sweets and MLB baseball cards to keep. Our main focus is on
having fun, making friends and being a good team-mate.
What about the parents?
Parents are just as important as the kids – we want you to get involved too and not just watch!
We would like you to play an active role in Little Sox; assisting the coaches (or becoming a coach), encouraging the players, helping tidying up equipment and when we have our special event days, helping running our hot dog stand, fundraising and generally help create a warm and family friendly atmosphere at the ballpark!
Being a super-volunteer help creates an enjoyable and sustainable programme. The more you put into it, the more your child will LOVE Little Sox!
How much does it cost?
Your first Little Sox session is free and we then have a membership scheme of £20 per player (for the season) that helps meets the running costs of the programme. The cost can be spread in two monthly £10 instalments.
have great deals on official Little Sox T-shirts, hats, hoodies and baseball
pants, which are re-sold on a pass-through cost basis.
When and where are your sessions?
Our sessions are weekly on Sunday afternoons as follows:
Tee Ball ages 4-6 (12.30pm-1.30pm)
Coach Pitch ages 7-9 (1.30pm-2.30pm)
If you are uncertain which age group is suitable for your child then please get in touch. We are happy to play kids up or down age groups, when considering size, ability and circle of friends.
Our first session this season will be on Sunday 23 April 2017 and sessions run weekly (except Fathers Day) until mid-July.
We then have a short break at the onset of the school summer holidays before returning mid-August and closing the season in September.
Our T-Ball diamond is located at:
Leicester Blue Sox Baseball Club
What should my child wear?
Comfortable clothing is fine and trainers. If the pitch is on the soggy side, you may want to consider investing in a pair of basic football boots. Be prepared to get muddy!
All other equipment; bats, balls, gloves, helmets/safety equipment is supplied by the club.
