Four Leicestershire youngsters are travelling to Prague later this month to play at an international baseball tournament.
Wyatt Bryson, Reuben Crawshaw, Arnav Rai and Megan Rollins from the Leicester Blue Sox have been selected for the United Kingdom under-10s team, along with 7 other players from around the country.
The team flies out to the Czech Republic during the half term week at the end of May, with three days of baseball action between Friday 1 June and Sunday 3 June.
Crawshaw, Rai and Rollins featured in Team UK’s debut appearance at the European Super Cup last year. The team finished with a respectable mid-table ranking overall and also came home with the Yellow Cup trophy after beating Lithuania in a consolation final.
This year Team UK have been drawn in Group A alongside last year’s coach-pitch final winners San Boi of Barcelona, Vienna Wanderers plus three as yet unnamed domestic Czech teams. In order to progress further in the tournament they will need to finish in the top two places in their group after the first couple of days' play.
Matt Crawshaw, Chair at Leicester Blue Sox said “we are thrilled to have another quartet of Blue Sox youngsters selected to play for their national team. The players have recently returned from Team UK’s May Day practice in London, which went extremely well. We have one more practice over the Spring Bank Holiday before we fly out to Prague. Last year was a fantastic experience for all involved, we hope to do even better in our second appearance at the tournament!”
